The HNC route will be around 2½ years for engineering and 3 years for deck programmes, which could be immediately followed by a further six months study to achieve the HND (or undertaken at a later date).

Entry Requirements
GCSE Grades A-C/Scottish Standard grades at Levels 1-3 in English, Maths, a Science based subject and at least one other subject.
Who suits this route?
Trainees undertaking the HNC/HND route will be practically minded and enjoy learning in a structured and detailed manner using practical examples and practice. This route includes a Higher Education access course and specific maths and science development and practice. Trainees following this route will have aspirations to achieve seafaring certification at the highest levels with the opportunity for further study to degree level.
